Call for papers 12th Tihany Symposium on Radiation Chemistry, Hungary2011 is THE YEAR of the 12th Tihany Symposium on Radiation Chemistry to be held in Zalakaros, Hungary, near the lake Balaton, between August 27 and September 1.
Please submit an abstract by sending it to the Organizers as e-mail attachment (rc.tihany@gmail.com) and make your contribution to this Symposium. Adherence to the guidelines published on the website (http://www.tihany.kfki.hu) will greatly support the work of our Programme Committee. Participants may choose at the time of submission whether they wish their abstract to be considered for oral or poster presentation. Abstracts not selected for oral presentation by the reviewers and Programme Committee may be accepted for poster presentation.

On February 19, 2010 a seminar was held at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, in which the Institute of Isotopes presented several of its R&D activities in the field of nuclear security and nuclear forensics. The Complex Committee on Chemical and Processing Engineering of Hungarian Academy of Sciences selected Antal Tungler for the 2009 József Varga Award. The award was presented on 8 December 2009, where he gave a lecture with the title "42 years of roaming at the border of catalysis and chemical technology". Program (in Hungarian)15 October 2009
Young scientists of the Institute earned a second (Zsuzsanna Mácsik) and a third place (Róbert Katona) in the young scientist presentation contest at the national Annual Radiochemistry Conference at Pecs, Hungary (Hevesy Young Scientist Award). A honorary session of the conference has been organized for Pál Tétényi, and the 50th anniversary of the Institute's foundation was also remembered.25 September 2009
The Nuclear Research department of the Institute organized the "EFNUDAT Slow and Resonance Neutrons, a Scientific Workshop on Nuclear Data Measurements, Theory and Applications", between 23 - 25 September, 2009. More info at the local website of the event.18 September 2009
On 18 September 2009, a bilateral collaboration agreement has been signed between the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and the Institute of Isotopes, HAS. The first event of the collaboration was the visit of Árpád Veres and Nguyen Cong Tam to Vietnam National University, between 5-19 October. Árpád Veres gave an overview lecture abouut our activities.Further information:

- Dr. Pál Tétényi, scientific advisor of the Institute has been awarded with a honorary doctor degree at University of Pannonia, Veszprém, Hungary.
- Dr. Zoltán Paál received the "Eötvös József koszorú" carrier achievement award from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
- Dr. László Wojnárovits received a prize of exellence from the Publishing house "Akadémiai Kiadó" for his book Sugárkémia (Radiation Chemistry).
- Zsolt Varga won the György Hevesy-prize (an award given to young scientists for early carrier achievement in the field of radiation safety).
